Re: [My Linkedin Power Forum] The marketing article

Nice to hear from you, Marut.

...but, I believe you just repeated two (2) of the attributes that I have said.

>logical understanding of the application of the product/service and the psychological understanding of prospective users needs, etc...

Kindly re-read my "definition" of a Good Marketeer, again.

Thank you.

Dear Jim, Zuar and Jesse

I was a marketing student and then a sales professional most of my professional career. And I have realized that its not so much about the particular Product/Service or the Contacts. Its about Logical understanding of the application of the Product/Service in question and the Psychological understanding of the prospective users needs, preferences, attitude and lifestyle.

I am amazed at times, by these "Graphic Designing" outfits, which pass themselves off as "Marketing experts", without an iota of business sense. Commerce is afterall inherent and integral to all Sales and Marketing.

I know I am going off at a tangent here, but wanted to share.

Wishing you all a Very Happy New Year ahead!

Warm Regards

Jim, Ziaur,

I believe I missed out on this "interesting" article...
Nevertheless, as I have previously said in my post...
the Real Business Management Edge is simply... COMMON SENSE.

Allow me to reply according to the subject title and Ziaur's response.

>Marketing is really a very difficult task that is closely linked to the selling process.

To some degree, marketing and sales could have some overlapping functions, but... it is not really "difficult" if boundaries have been pre-defined.

>A good marketeer of one product may not be a great marketeer of another product or service.

Well, in some cases, yes. This is because most of the "good" marketeer's contacts are involved in the product/service that s/he is or was "said-to-be" good at... so, the end result, good sales. Again, why? Because of his/her industry connections.

However, for me, a Good Marketeer could be Anyone who at least...
understands his/her company's products/services.
believes these products/services.
is enthusiastic about these products/services.
knows about his/her company's competitor(s).
has an easy-going yet dignified personality that the consumer could relate to.
is committed to the organization's vision.

With these attributes...
Great results won't be far behind.

Be heard.

Carpe diem!

Dear Jim,

Thanks for sharing the interesting article. Marketing is really a very difficult task that is closely linked to the selling process. It is hard to extricate from the other and one tends to step on the shoulder of the other.

Nonetheless, a good marketeer of one product may not be a great marketeer of another product or service. So, marketing to me in 70% or 80% art and 30% or 20% science.

Take care
